Salt Chlorinators, also know as Salt Water Generators, work by converting normal salt into Sodium Hypochlorite (NaOCL, Liquid Chlorine.) There are many misconceptions about Salt Chlorinators, such as they make your swimming pool or spa chlorine free, or they reduce the amount of time you spend on maintenance. First of all, they produce pure Chlorine, the same chlorine that you purchase at the store. Second, you still have to monitor your water, and balance your chemicals the same as if you did not have a Salt Chlorinator.

However, there are many benefits to using a Salt Chlorinator on your pool or spa. Salt Generators constantly produce chlorine, so your water is always being sanitized. They eliminate the need to shock your pool, reduce red itchy eyes, reduce skin irritation, and eliminate the strong chlorine odor that causes a burning sensation in your nose and throat.
